Keeping Wild Animals in the Wild
When fall season rolls in, the wild animals like squirrels, raccoons and opossums, may move indoors preparing for the colder months. Often times our homes provide the perfect refuge for these pests and other types of nuisance wildlife. Our homes provide easy access to food, water and warm shelter. It is important to animal-proof your property before winter arrives. Below are some helpful tips to make sure that no curious creatures are sneaking in through the attic, basement or other areas that are susceptible within the home.
Once a wild animal makes it inside, they are difficult to eradicate and can pose health risks by carrying diseases like rabies or biting you if they feel threatened. If you encounter nuisance wildlife on your property, contact your local wildlife control specialist or a professional pest control company. Do not attempt to trap and remove the animal on your own.
A racoon or squirrel often enters a home through uncapped chimneys, broken vents, and any other opening along the roofline. Make sure these areas are fully screened to help prevent wild animals from making your home, theirs! Ant pest Control Phoenix AZ
Cover the Trash
Nuisance wildlife, especially raccoons, love piles of trash that is left outside. Store all garbage bags in plastic containers with a lid. This makes it more difficult for them to dine on your leftovers.
Cut back Vegetation
Squirrels and other small animals will use tree branches to help gain access to rooflines. This is where they can find a number of ways to try and move indoors. Cut back any tree limbs or branches that hang close to the foundation. Keep vegetation at least 6 to 8 feet from the roofline. Ant pest Control Phoenix AZ
