Taking Care of Spiders
Pride on the Outside
Your home should be your pride and joy! Take care of it! When you neglect your property around your home, you make it bug friendly! Make it less friendly by removing clutter like rocks, wood, and compost piles. Caulk those cracks in the foundation---this eliminates the point of entry for them! Seal your windows and make sure they are fitted with screens. Make sure the weather strips on your doors are in good condition. Clean the windows and shutters often and power wash the cobwebs off your home. Get rid of cardboard boxes for storage, and switch to plastic bins. Spiders do keep other bugs at bay and they don’t eat plants……so when it comes to keeping your garden safe, you have little to worry about when it comes to spiders.
Punch Their Lights Out
Bugs love light……..and spiders love bugs. So if you want to get rid of spiders, you need to think about how you light your home! Reduce the amount of outdoor lights if you want to reduce the amount of insects and bugs drawn to your home. Replace existing lights with sodium vapor lights or yellow lights. Bugs find these less attractive. If you neighbor has bright flood lights, that’s a good thing! They just inherited all your bug problems! If you need a bright outdoor light, place the light source (the actual bulb) away from doors and windows! Shine the light where you need it, but if the source of the light is right by your door, spiders are going to set up shop there! Cave Creek Spider Pest Control AZ
Spidercide
Let your pest management company handle insecticides! But if you want to figure it out on your own, make sure to do it safely! Always follow the instructions and heed to all the warnings. Residual insecticides can be applied where spiders like to breed---corners, attics, basements and garages. Having a barrier treatment around your home is VERY effective. The use of foggers are not very effective when it comes to spiders—but slow release formulations and wettable powders are! Cave Creek Spider Pest Control AZ
