*Entry: Ants are tiny…..and they can enter into even tinier spaces/crack looking for water, and sweet or greasy foods.
*Scent Trails: When ants travel, they leave an invisible chemical trail. This allows the others to follow once an ant finds the food source.
*Nest Locations: These can be found pretty much anywhere in or around the home; lawns, walls, stumps, or even the foundation.
*Colony Size: Depending on the ant, the colonies can range anywhere from 300,000 to 500,000 worker ants. If an ant colony feels threatened, they can uproot and move very quickly.

Often times, the DIY ant control only kills the ants you see. There are some treatments that can penetrate and actually destroy the nest and also keep the pests from returning to it. Also, depending on what type of ant it is, it may require different treatments. What works for one ant species, may not work for the other.
